The Ukrainian group "Kovalska" has acquired a number of companies and equipment for the development of its own mining of river sand on the Dnieper (Kyiv region) and Desna (Chernihiv region), as reported in the press service of the company.

The scope of the agreement includes river sand mining quarries, equipment and river fleet, including self-propelled and non-self-propelled barges, pusher tugs, floating cranes, equipment for underwater soil development and loading.
The new asset with a capacity of up to 1 million tons per year will 100% satisfy the production needs of the "Kovalska" plants in river sand, the company said. The total reserves of the Group's river sand deposits are estimated at 200 million tons.
"Sand is the basic building material for the reconstruction of Ukraine – roads, production of concrete, reinforced concrete structures, mixtures. In turn, river sand is a strategic raw material for the Kovalska Group. We will ensure proper quality according to the Group's standards and become an active, transparent, predictable seller. We are also reducing dependence on external supplies and related operational and reputational risks," commented CEO of Kovalska Group Serhii Pylypenko.
Kovalska Group is Ukraine's largest producer of building materials and one of the leading developers. The company's products are represented by a number of brands, including Concrete from Kovalska, Avenue paving tiles and Siltek construction mixes.
