The port of Izmail is showing positive dynamics in terms of unloading wagons with agricultural products. According to Valeriy Tkachov, Deputy Director of the Commercial Operations Department at Ukrzaliznytsia, the average daily unloading for July has increased to 135 wagons, as reported by the Rail.insider.

As of July 3, a total of 1,955 wagons carrying grain were moving towards the port. During the period from June 26 to July 2, the queue decreased by 268 wagons. The main reason for this improvement is the enhancement of unloading performance.
Furthermore, 164 wagons with grain were unloaded at the port in the past day. The average daily figure for July is 135 wagons of cereals (+60 wagons per day compared to last week's figure).
The situation at the port remains challenging due to a significant accumulation of wagons. Loading towards the port is planned taking into account the processing capacity of recipients and operators, but due to weather conditions, operators are unloading significantly less than the planned volume. In total, over 6,700 wagons with various types of cargo are moving towards the port of Izmail, noted Tkachov.
The queue towards the seaports has also decreased. Specifically, as of July 3, 793 wagons with grain cargoes were moving towards the ports of Greater Odessa. The average daily unloading for July is 304 wagons with grain.
The daily unloading of wagons with grain in the ports of Greater Odessa fluctuates in the range of 290-305 wagons per day and has significantly decreased due to the lack of volumes. During the period from June 26 to July 2, the number of wagons heading to the ports decreased by 433 wagons, or 35%.
In the past week, only four vessels passed inspection within the grain corridor (three to the port of Odessa and one to the port of Chornomorsk).
The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) is considering further projects to improve the capacity of the Izmail station. In particular to expand the throughput capacity of the Izmail station. This involves the Artsyz – Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi – Izmail railroad sections. Also the option of electrifying the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi – Izmail section is currently being considered. Its implementation is expected to begin in 2023.
